New Smoking Ordinance drafted
Excelsior Springs voters approved repealing the old smoking ban ordinance to replace it with a new smoking prohibition on April 2, 2013. A proposed ordinance to repeal and replace the existing smoking ordinance is available for public review. To review the proposed ordinance click here.
2013 Household Hazardous Waste Collection Schedule
The 2013 collection schedule for Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) is now available. All participating communities may attend ANY of the events listed in the event schedule. Click here for downloadable schedule and HHW program brochure.
Hershey's Track & Field Games sponsored by Parks and Recreation
The 2013 Hershey's Track & Field Games have been scheduled for Tuesday, May 14, 2013. The event is free for youth ages 9-14. Deadline for registration is Friday, May 10. For more information and registration form, visit the Park and Recreation website.
New Recycling Service schedule begins April 1
Allied Waste, service provider for trash and recycling services for the City of Excelsior Springs, will be providing improved recycling services beginning April 1, 2013. A new recycling service schedule will be implemented. This is a necessary step towards eventually being able to execute a weekly recycling service in the near future. Friendly reminders: Please set your carts out by 7 a.m. on your service day. All carts will be served by 5 p.m. There should be at least 3 feet of clearance between your cart and any other objects (cars, mailboxes, etc.). Glass is not accepted.
Excelsior Springs annexation along U.S. 69 complete
The City of Excelsior Springs will extend its city limits to include a little over 250 acres owned by Cecil and Carolyn Troutwine. The property is located between Cameron and Rhodus roads, north of the southbound lanes of U.S. 69 and in between the highway's southbound and northbound lanes. The property is zoned for light industrial and commercial development.
As part of the annexation agreement, the city will extend water and sewer utilities to the corner of U.S. 69 and Cameron Road within two years.

Local Tree Fund is launched
Heartland Tree Alliance (HTA) has launched a digital approach to funding trees in the Kansas City metropolitan area, including Excelsior Springs. |
HTA now gives residents the opportunity to pay directly for the planting of trees in their own hometown. With a simple click here, donors can specify how much they would like to give, and then watch as the tree fund grows. Each time the fund reaches $1,000, HTA will launch a tree-planting event, giving Excelsior Springs residents the opportunity to see their dollars go to work. Bulky Item Drop-Off
The City of Excelsior Springs will provide a Bulky Item Drop Off site every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 12 noon -- then from 12:30 to 3 p.m., starting April 6 and running through December 28, 2013. Located at 1300 South Marietta St., next to yard waste drop-off site.
A staff person on site will determine fee from schedule. All payments must be cash only, no checks or credit card payments accepted. For fee schedule and information on items that are accepted or not accepted, click here.
Online Bill Payment
The City of Excelsior Springs now accepts online payment for utility and tax bills using MasterCard, VISA or Discover cards. Payment buttons for those transactions are located in the left margin of this website. A $3.00 convenience fee is charged for all tax payments.
