Missouri launches new storm/tornado preparation website
The Excelsior Springs Emergency Management Director, Chief Kent Cantrell, encourages residents to visit the new stormaware.mo.gov website.
Missouri StormAware site includes videos on sheltering and storm warning systems; stormaware.mo.gov also includes links to severe weather texting services to alert Missourians to severe weather in their area.
The site shows how people can find the safest place to shelter in their house and the steps mobile home residents should take as soon as they move in to their residences. There's also information for sheltering in schools, places of worship and other large gathering places.

Bridge replacements to reduce Route 69 traffic to one lane beginning Monday
The Missouri Department of Transpotation is preparing for two significant bridge replacements for the north and southbound Route 69 bridges over the BNSF Railroad. Traffic will be reduced to one lane in both directions beginning Monday, March 19, 7 a.m., to begin constructing the temporary bypass just south of Chandler Road. Construction is expected to last through July 26, weather permitting.
MoDOT WILL NOT close Route 69, but must place traffic into a head-to-head traffic configuration to move motorists around each bridge closure. This will impact travel through the area.
The bridge replacement is part of the Safe & Sound Bridge Improvement Program. MoDOT thanks you for your patience as these bridges are replaced. For more information, download maps and information below:
